The recent war has left all the king's castles in ruin. Only the foundations of these once magnificent monuments remain. The war not only robbed the king of his castles, but also of his youth. The now elderly king must choose a successor from among his sons. He has charged them with rebuilding his castles and promised the throne to the one who can rebuild the tallest and largest castles.

Tired of war, the king requires that the building be done in peace and a spirit of co-operation. Thus, the princes may not attack each other or the castles being built. Each prince has six knights to supervise the building. Two or more princes may work together on a castle with their knights competing to control the highest towers of the castle. The king will spend each year in a castle and will reward the prince whose knights are guarding him.

Once a year, the king will tour the castles to judge the progress of each son. After he finishes the third tour, he will choose his successor and prepare for his own death.

The players earn points at the end of each of the three years for every castle where they are represented by a knight. The score is the product of the surface area of the castle and the level where the knight stands. The player who collects the most points over the three years is the winner.

Torres was designed by Wolfgang Kramer and Michael Kiesling and is published by Ravensburger (German edition) and Rio Grande Games (English edition).

Playing via the Web

As with all games, rules are required. Please read the rules of engagement that cover For Whom The Web Rocks games. The following additional rules apply to these Torres games.

Torres games require two to four players.
Please use a subject of Torres exxx when sending orders (replace the 'xxx' with the game number, e.g. Torres e999).
Private information is available from the game information area. Players will be provided with usernames and passwords to access their information.
Games may be played to the basic rules, or the Action Card Variant or Master Version may be played. When you join a game you can choose which type of game to play.
Moves must be submitted in the sequence that they will occur. For example, if two towers are being placed, and one requires the other to be placed first, please order them in the correct sequence.
All orders involving Action Cards should use the card names given on the Action Cards page of this site to avoid confusion. I can not guarantee to understand which card you mean if you make up your own names.
Moves made for players by the referee will normally involve actions to improve the player's potential score. Priority will be given to placing tower blocks that would otherwise be lost in the current turn.
